Things My Children Say

Miss E: Can I go sleep at abuelita’s house? Abuelita is my Mommy!!

***

Miss E (in the car): Can Daddy make cookies?
Mr E: Huh? Cookies? Cookies?
Or if she says his name, he’ll say “What?” “…What?” in a very sweet, inquisitive voice.

Miss right after coming home from school: “A boy, he hit me!”
Mommy or daddy (or both?): “A boy hit you?”
Miss E: “Yes. [And something or other about “time out” which we decided meant the teacher gave him time out] Teacher was mad. Teacher scared me! Pobrecito boy!”
Pobrecito boy!?!

On Saturday, on the way to the Donut Stop, Miss E asked to call Nana.
Miss E: Nana??
[Nana on speaker- says hi]
Miss E: Hi!! I [am] going to [the] Donut Stop! I get a chocolate donut!
Mr E: Donut?
[Nana's voice responds but I cannot hear it]
Miss E: [There is a] ladybug on my shirt. [Something or other about Mr E]
Mr E: Whaaat?
Nana had no idea what all she was saying, but was very sweet to play along :)!

Mr. E had been eating cut up chicken pieces and veggies. He left half his bowl full of food, though, so I asked him to give me his food (the plan was to get the bowl and try to feed him piece by piece). He took this very literally and started giving me his food, putting it on my hand piece by piece. I was amused and started counting, and he joined in! Around 3 or 4 I realized he was counting at the same time as me, so I stopped at 5 maybe? He kept going on his own all the way to 10. I was surprised! I wrote a post on facebook that went something like “I think Mr E can count to 10?!? Who taught him?!” To which Quijote quite shamelessly replied that he has been counting with him by reading him a bunny book. Math during Bed Time!?! OMG the nerve. Jaja!
