Since CdJ is on the way to the beachtown where we vacationed, we were able to visit. We celebrated my mom's birthday and father's day with them. My parents took Boo so that we could go to the beach sans puppy. We also took everyone to the park where my siblings and I used to go when we were kids. The municipal art school on the other side of the park is absolutely amazing. I went there for years-- even while I was in high school and crossing the border and taking buses every day. I learned more at that school than I ever did anywhere else, though. SMU taught me nothing I hadn't already learned at the Borunda Art School. Such happy memories!! It was so wonderful to share this place with my husband and my kids. My family was there with us, and they took us out for all kinds of yummy food, and my parents bought tickets for all the kids to go on all the rides... it was such an incredibly fun night.
While we were there I asked my sister if I could take her kids with me back home. I knew a trip back to HTown to visit my other sister was coming up in a couple weeks and we would all meet there. Only D had finished his tests at that point, so we took him with us and promised his sister she'd come home with us on the way back from H. Well, those couple weeks were so busy!! We took D everywhere! The library, the pool, the museum, several restaurants, to the park, to the movies, to a nearby town to where my brother and his family in law traveled for a race, even to visit the family of refugees... It was wonderful having him around. He also had ESL classes with me most days (supposedly it was every day but we missed a few here and there hehe!) Our friends from Tulsa visited us one of those weekends and it was wonderful to see them too!
By the time it was all said and done, my husband was starting to get nervous about his upcoming conference and the beginning of the school year in the fall. We decided I was going to drive a rental car to H and take Miss E and my nephew with me. Quijote would stay back to work and he would take Mr E so that the trip to Sea World (on the way to H) would be a little easier for us as well. Mr E doesn't do long walks-- he can barely make it halfway around the block before we need to carry him or put him in a stroller. I admit Quijote was definitely right that Mr E would not have enjoyed SW at all yet. But we did miss him. Thankfully my inlaws visited them while we were gone, so I am glad they also had their own adventure :)
