Mr E and I

Well, we did get sick RIGHT AWAY... like, the second day of school, we were all sniffly. Haha! That was a sad sad weekend. But this past week was a little better, and Friday I was able to finally get a full day of fun. We made flour paint and tested to see what color it turned if we combined blue and yellow. We worked on the letter D and he wrote his name a few times (with help). We drew his silhouette and turned it into a drawing of him --and then we absolutely also had to do the same for his stuffed animal, a snake that he carries around a lot these days because Boo likes it. We tried to make brown out of blue, pink, and yellow chalk (it didn't work, haha!) and just had SUCH a great time together. There was the usual train fun and dinosaur games. And music time. And of course lunch. I made him rice and tuna, and we ate chocolate chip cookies from Miss E and Daddy's from-scratch batch!

Earlier in the summer, he found one of those rocks that people paint and hide. It was a fun adventure for him. He took care of it, and then he found the perfect place for it (near the children's museum) when it was time to hide it.

And here he is on the first day of school.

He and Boo are my companions for the day these days... We are obviously so much fun haha!

Miss E's First Day of School

My beautiful little baby is no longer! I have a precocious little girl instead. Sniff!! As soon as we got home, we knew we had little time to get ready for her big day. We got shots, we bought clothes, tennis shoes, hair stuffs, and thankfully I had thought to buy supplies before our last trip. Her clothes did not get here on time so I had to get another new outfit for her first day of school. It turned out to be a good thing: her first outfit had been a dress. She wore it the second day of school- no big. But the first day of school she ended up wearing a cute theme-ish outfit that made her look like Ms Frizzle, from The Magic School Bus? Which I loooved! And of course she was so comfortable in pants and a tshirt. I think it was all for the best.

So far she loves her teacher and wakes up happy to go to school every day. Quijote says it's hard to wake her up sometimes but I think it has to do with her late night stories (she likes to tell looong stories, and then there's the stories we read or that I tell her... ). I have been making her lunch and leaving a note for her in her lunch box. She loves that too. She did get sick and got me sick and Q made lunch for her once. Well, that day, after school, she asked me about her "letter" and could I write her a letter next time and put it with her lunch. She comes home and tells us all about her day-- except for her friend's names. Apparently she's as bad as her mom when it comes to names.

Below, pictures of her Meet The Teacher Night, first day of school, and second day of school. Finally, pictures of her first day of ballet. 2nd year. Buttercups.

Some August Fun

In August, our friend got married in Detroit, and we asked my parents to take the kiddoes so we could go on our own. We decided to take my niece back with us from Houston and keep her until we traveled back to CdJ in August. Then we all made the trip over to J to drop the kids off (even Boo!) and Q and I flew from ELP to D.

But first we had lots of fun taking Miss D out here in Amarillo (and I stopped at the Magnolia Silos on the way back of course). We did not do formal ESL, since she wasn't too interested, but we did a daily craft instead. It was so much fun to have her! I'll admit that it was much easier for me to entertain her than her brother, since she enjoys doing a lot of the things we already do here at home! She was especially into slime this summer, and the kids made so many batches that I lost count! We also took her to all the places we took her brother- the library, the pool, out to eat, the museum, parks, and so on :)

And when we got back to CdJ, it was my birthday and my dad's! We celebrated together for the first time in years!

It was so great to be back in Anapra!! It was a blessing to see some of the people that continue to pour their love into the ministry there, and honestly, it was good to get a little dirty too!! It was a very, very happy birthday. After the group left we celebrated once more so that my siblings could be there. S and her family were able to join us this time and the pizzeria was just so beautiful! and the pizza was delish

We came home to find that the morning glories had taken over but were barely flowering. Now they are finally flowering but I haven't taken pictures of them yet. But here is what we found--- an incredibly peaceful home, now that it was just us. Too quiet.

But not for long! Miss E was about to start school and we were not ready haha!
