Home for a bit
I came home to a frazzled but happy hubby, and a clean home. I am so proud of him for all that he did -work wise and home wise- while we were away. I also came home to see the beginnings of the rose bushes' first bloom (the first bloom is always the most showy, if you ask me) and a blooming snowball bush (which only blooms once a year). It was a very happy homecoming.
This was just the beginning... The roses are in full bloom now- I love them!- but I'll post about that later. It was so beautiful to me already- so green and happy and even starting to bloom!
After a day of rest, we packed our car with luggage once again. And we were off.
Hutchinson and Tulsa
Our first stop was Hutchinson, KS. My mother in law grew up there, and she wanted to show the kids around! We stayed in a hotel for a night, and the kids got to visit the Cosmosphere. It is such an amazing museum, and they have a very very cool science/space camp that we will absolutely make sure the kids attend next summer. Miss E was soooo excited about it. Heck- I want to go to space camp now. They basically had a training camp for young astronauts, complete with Mission Control (with real computers from Houston) and machines that help kids train their bodies for space travel, as well as a room that is basically the inside of a real space craft. We loved it so much that Q and I actually tried to move things around to make it possible, but it would have just been too crazy. Haha! We *have* gone a little crazy, I think. We want to do EVERYTHING. All the things. All the cool things. Anyway- the kids loved it.
The college nearby is small, but very cute. We had lunch there before heading to OK:
I should back up a little... I forgot to say that on the way to Hutchinson we found a little park and had a small break there. It was so fun!
Then we headed to Tulsa OK for our visit with the Grandparents, for some more fun. We hung out, ate yummy food, did some gardening, had a tea party, went to the botanical gardens (so beautiful!), visited a museum.. we did so much!
The kids have baby journals from the Met, like their dad. We showed them Q's baby journal!
We also visited some friends while in Tulsa (the above banana bread is her famous recipe) and I found this CD that Q's band The Sweet Potatoes recorded back in high school. It was a very fun find!
On the way home we visited Tio Eddy's architectural work
This is one of his sleek, beautifully designed entryways!
We also took a family picture at the photo booth -thereby turning it into a bit of a tradition, since this is the second time we do it! I should find the first one so I can put a picture of the two side by side...
It was a fun adventure. We are so happy to have seen our loved ones. And also happy to be home.
