A Day In the Life of Miss E and Mr E

The last time I did this was last September, and it was a day when we were scheduled to go out to the library. This time I meant to do one of those slow days, but I forgot Daddy and I had a particularly exciting plan for the afternoon (well, exciting for me and the kids, not for Daddy as much). So- here it is- the reality that there are no normal days around here.

Daddy reading a bilingual bed time story the night before.

6-6:30am- Mr E wakes up. Daddy wakes up with him and gives him breakfast (usually otameal with blueberries and milk)

7-7:30- Miss E wakes up. She immediately changes into her "princess" dress, which is a golden dress my mom bought for her a Christmas or two ago. I try to wake up with her, but in all honesty, most days I wake up around 8.

When I wake up, Daddy usually gives me coffee in an effort to get his zombie wife back to life. Yes, I am a zombie at 8am. Don't judge. :3

He puts chocolate chips in it to make it into a mocha. I know, I'm spoiled.
The rest of us had breakfast. Around 8:30 or so that morning, Daddy went to work.

Then around 8:45am Mr E tried to fit his bum in this box.

Miss E had been having a tea party.

Why does she make a villain face every time I try to take a picture? Can you see Mr E looking at the box? LOL

Around 10am I decided we should all try to be decent and take a shower/bath. It usually consists of a combination because Miss E prefers baths to showers. So, usually she will wait out by the shower while Mr E and I start with a shower, then join us at the end for a quick bath.

Mis pollitos mojados:

They are so cute! I had miraculously convinced Miss E to not wear her tutu and wear something different for just a little bit so I could take her picture. So a crazy 20 mins or so of picture taking ensued. LoL! And by the time we finished, she had forgotten all about her tutu. VICTORY!!!!

Here are a few gratuitous shots. I'm sorry- I can't help myself. They are my beautiful children!!! LOL!

11ish am is usually lunch time. Mr E was very upset for some reason while I was trying to put together their lunch. He wanted me to give him lunch de ipsofacto! (that very second) LoL.

Uuuup! Uuuuup!!

Here is their lunch for that morning. The chips were a new thing and Miss E would not even try them.

Turkey dogs are not great for an every day thing, but they are definitely a fave. The sweet potatoes are a must these days. I just mash them with milk (almond milk that day bc I had it) and no salt or sugar. Cinnamon at most.

They also ate my apple, most of my cheese, and even tried the prosciutto. I ended up having leftovers after that :P

12-2pm There was lots of big block fun after lunch.

Then it was time for nap time/quiet time.  (Mr E usually sleeps from 2ish to 4ish)
Daddy came home and soon after that, everyone was up and back to playing with the blocks for a little bit. Miss E had of course changed back into her princess dress by then :P So much for victory.

Can you tell what Miss E is doing??????

She wrote her name with the blocks!!! She has the orientation right and everything!!
She really does have her name down these days :)! The first time she wrote her name of her own accord and without help, she wrote AVE with a flipped E [on her slipper, naturally. don't worry, it was one of those washable markers. hehe!]

Soon after that, though, Daddy went outside to work on a project. The kids wanted so bad to go too, and despite the allergies we've all have been having I acceded. I'm a softy. The kids played outside and Mr E sprayed himself with the hose. It was hilarious.

Daddy's big project was disassembling the play set to bring it indoors.

Miss E jumped up and down in joy when she realized what Q was doing. She is also yelling something to the effect of "Yes yes yes! Bring the playground inside!"

After a while, I decided it was time to come in and start dinner. I made something like this creamy chicken rice and bacon soup:
6pm: Dinner

7pm: Daddy had finished painstakingly disassembling the playset. We had had dinner.
In the interest of "keeping it real," I will say that we quite simply decided we deserved some Starbucks. So we put the kids in the car and off we went. I had my first pumpkin latte of the season :)! (this one is for the Bugs!)

When we came back right around 8pm, it was bed time. Assembling the playset would be left for after the kids were asleep. Quijote helped me put the kids to sleep, and then he worked until 11pm. I tried to help a little bit. After that Quijote got a VERY WELL DESERVED back rub while we watched Hercule Poroit on Netflix, and we went to bed ridculously late. We don't usually go to bed after midnight, and I would say that 11pm is actually the norm.

The kids have loved having the playset inside. They have been playing with it non stop :)

Things My Children Say

Miss E: Can I go sleep at abuelita’s house? Abuelita is my Mommy!!

***

Miss E (in the car): Can Daddy make cookies?
Mr E: Huh? Cookies? Cookies?
Or if she says his name, he’ll say “What?” “…What?” in a very sweet, inquisitive voice.

***

Miss right after coming home from school: “A boy, he hit me!”
Mommy or daddy (or both?): “A boy hit you?”
Miss E: “Yes. [And something or other about “time out” which we decided meant the teacher gave him time out] Teacher was mad. Teacher scared me! Pobrecito boy!”
Pobrecito boy!?!

***

On Saturday, on the way to the Donut Stop, Miss E asked to call Nana.
Miss E: Nana??
[Nana on speaker- says hi]
Miss E: Hi!! I [am] going to [the] Donut Stop! I get a chocolate donut!
Mr E: Donut?
[Nana's voice responds but I cannot hear it]
Miss E: [There is a] ladybug on my shirt. [Something or other about Mr E]
Mr E: Whaaat?
Nana had no idea what all she was saying, but was very sweet to play along :)!

Mr. E had been eating cut up chicken pieces and veggies. He left half his bowl full of food, though, so I asked him to give me his food (the plan was to get the bowl and try to feed him piece by piece). He took this very literally and started giving me his food, putting it on my hand piece by piece. I was amused and started counting, and he joined in! Around 3 or 4 I realized he was counting at the same time as me, so I stopped at 5 maybe? He kept going on his own all the way to 10. I was surprised! I wrote a post on facebook that went something like “I think Mr E can count to 10?!? Who taught him?!” To which Quijote quite shamelessly replied that he has been counting with him by reading him a bunny book. Math during Bed Time!?! OMG the nerve. Jaja!

Recycled Nap Mat :)!

I have completed a sewing project! I am so excited. Jaja! I'm finally getting to know my machine well :) My first project with the machine was a tutu for Miss E, and it was a little bit of a ridiculous, comical little thing. So many errors- but I finally got it done. And this second project went much more smoothly. Here it is in all its glory.

The original version had velcro, but I hate how it always get stuck to things in the wash, so I just made the ties longer so I could hopefully make a bow- they aren't long enough for that, once you add the cobija and the pillow to the mix. Womp wop. But it ties together pretty nicely :)

The cobija was made by a dear friend of our family. It's a thing in the States~ I think they call it quilting?~ and ladies make these for their family and friends and these beautiful things become heirlooms. I have inherited one from my inlaws that is super old and was made by a special woman in the family history. Isn't that beautiful? I can't wait till the kids are older so I can put it out in a guest room or somewhere special like that. Well, this owl one was made by someone dear to my mom and dad and myself, and she made it especially for Miss E's nursery when she was a newborn :)

The tutorial I followed uses bright new fabrics of course, but I had tons of baby girl blankets that I wanted to use for something, so I used them for this. The lady from Sew Like My Mom also gave her nap mat a cute applique, which has absolutely inspired me to get better at using my machine so I can learn to do this very detailed technique :)

Well, my mat isn't a pretty as hers, but it is better than the plain, uncovered (or covered by two pillowcases! lol) plastic mat she was using. haha!
