The Games My Children Play

Today Ms E decided she wanted to be a butterfly, and grabbed a book, swung it open, and held it behind her back... She told me the sides of my open cardigan -which were flapping quite conveniently- would be my wings, and then we "flew" around the house.

The kids have been dancing together! I absolutely love this! Mr E was very excited to be able to participate in the "dance" with me (dancing usually entails holding hands and running around in a circle, Mommy being the still point in the center and kid being the circling end of the compass) because as a baby he had been a spectator, participating only as the baby in Mommy's other arm. And then one day he reached for Ms E's hand, and though it took a little explaining (she didn't even know what was going on! haha! "E, he is trying to dance with you!" "OH!!") they promptly proceeded to dance with each other. It was wonderful. Most of the time there is a prelude of awkwardness before they coincide in their attempts to grab at each other's hands, but I think as Mr E becomes more vocal this will no longer occur ... and I think I will miss watching it happen.

They have also been riding the tricycle together!! I really need to get her one with pedals... He is quite the evil little brother, and is always terrorizing her while on their ride...

We did just recently get what was hopefully the last ice storm of the winter. It was treacherous out there for a few days!! But in the end there it was mostly just beautiful, and when it was starting to warm up, we ventured out for an outing. It was a winter wonderland...

I thought the ice-covered trees looked like someone had hung lace on them... such beauty!!
We had Pei Wei, a family favorite... (there's a story behind this, really!)

And here is Ms E in the car, on the way home (she got a new car seat while I was away, btw!! milestone!)
And here is her mischievous little face...

And now that I've established that she is a ridiculously good big sister... a patient, wonderful little person... let me tell you my last TGMCP story.

She was playing both parts, one with each hand...
Ms E (in an evil, low pitched raspy voice): "Mwahahaha... Yeeees yeeeees!"
Ms E (in a high pitched tiny little voice): "Nooooooooo, noooooo!"
"Yeees, yeeees!"
"Nooooo... noooooo!!"

Am I raising a sociopath, people?!? Haha!!

"MOOOOM! Don't tell people this story!!!"

Well, in my defense only my mom and your dad will probably read this post, baby girl. Heeheeheehee!!

No, seriously, maybe she's just watching too many cartoons with Good vs Evil plots? But either way, it was hilarious. I mean, the voices!!! It killed me.

  1. What a pretty ice storm! I do hope you don't have any more for your sake, though.

I love getting to watch sibling learn to play and use their imagination. Lydia and Flynn decided the other day that they were twins.

Also, the school situation on Friday ended up being justified because there was throwing up later in the weekend. The sniffles were just allergies, but the strange behavior and lethargy was the lead up to a stomach virus :p.

    1. It has been so awesome to get to watch it every day!! I'm sure you've been having lots of fun too, they are so sweet together- not surprised in the least that they decided to be twins <3
So sad that it was a tummy virus... but yeah, I had a feeling it'd end up being justified... :( Hope she feels better soon!!
