Alas de mariposa

I was going to blog about the bunny house tonight, but today was a gorgeous day and we spent lots of time outside. It was a gloriously happy afternoon in the sun.

While we were playing in the swing set, Miss E said she was flying, which reminded me that Quijote had said something about making her butterfly wings a couple days ago... so I told her we'd make her butterfly wings when we went back inside.

She swiftly jumped off her swing and said "Let's go inside! Butterfly wings!!"
We'd been outside for a while by then, so I asked Mr E if he was ready to go inside, and since Miss E was already on her way to the door it didn't surprise me that he nodded in reply. Okay then! Time to make some butterfly wings :)

It started out a very quiet activity:

But then the brother joined in:

And when the glitter came out, that's when the excitement really begun and things quickly deteriorated into this:

She is stabbing the wings with her brush at this point... sigh... 

haha!

Of course I had to bring out the hair dryer because she just couldn't wait for all that watercolor paint and glitter to dry on its own. Daddy got home around this point... and as I told him, Momma may have totally caused this by giving them Nutella today for the first time ever... but man, was she excited... no-- exhilarated  by her butterfly wings. There was running and flapping, and an actual attempt at taking flight by jumping off the inflatable bed we've been using as a bouncy castle in the living room.
It was ridiculous. I could barely even take half decent pictures.

We had a whole lot of fun today. And how fitting that this is all happening- the arrival of the next season (a very welcome change!!) and butterfly themed activities- as we are thinking, reading, hearing about the newness of life we find in Jesus.
