Two Year Recap part 2

What else have we been up to?

The kids had a great school year. It was Mr. E's first year of school, and I had initially stressed out about him being comfortable with such a huge change in schedule, as well as the challenges of a structured environment.

He did very well, though. He really enjoyed his time in school, learned everything he needed to learn and more, and made tons of friends. We didn't know where to seat them by the end of his birthday party in December. I posted pictures of it in the 2018 October post. But I'll jump back in time to their first day of school =)

When the pandemic hit, I initially took over their schooling, but then Quijote got more and more involved, and all of us have been having a great time together. He is teaching them Chess and math lessons, and they are doing tons of reading, and I have been doing arts and crafts with them and teaching them Spanish. I have also been trying to do science experiments with them, teaching them about plants and animals of the area, and doing other biology and geology activities with them. We've tried to do it for fun, especially after the official school year ended, so we've let them guide us and tried to focus on their interests... I hope it is at least doing something productive with all the time they have right now.

Making Rock Candy (aka learning about crystallization)

Telescope fun

(She knows how to adjust it now!)

She found out about SIMS and we downloaded it on the computer. Now there's a gamer in our family! HAHA!

Learning about the solar system.

Miss E's pumpkin patch.

Daddy and Mr E were having a dudes night in, so she and I had a girls night in ;)

Making a model of a hand.

Making a model of the solar system.
Both models were earned through the Daddy school homeroom point system ;)

Making dolls out of garden flowers and veggies from the fridge-

Mr E made a carrot man.

Chess lessons....

Outdoor fun.

I tried to tell them there was a bird nesting in our tree, but they already knew about it, apparently. And about the owls in the front and what not...

Catch and release bug study...

Making a fairy garden

Mr. E discovered the Calvin and Hobbes series!

We also attempted to create a wall marble run.

And now it is too hot in the Canyon, but earlier in the summer we were visiting every week (super early in the morning, when we had the place to ourselves)

There was a great horned brown owl on that tree!

Miss E and the dogs cuddling out on the back porch.

I'm sure there's tons of other fun things I could report on. But this has been life for us of late. Finally--- Mr E had a drive through kindergarten graduation!

I hope next year things will get... well... less dangerous. But in the meantime, we are trying to stay sane (and alive, says Miss E!)

Hope you and your family are doing well, too.
